WinDump is the Windows port of tcpdump, a fast, command-line network packet analyzer. It captures and displays network traffic in real time or from saved pcap files, and can also write captures to pcap for later analysis in tools like Wireshark. WinDump uses the same Berkeley Packet Filter (BPF) syntax as tcpdump, enabling precise filtering by host, port, protocol, subnet, VLAN, and more, with support for IPv4 and IPv6. It requires a packet capture driver such as Npcap (or the legacy WinPcap) and typically needs administrator privileges. Lightweight and script-friendly, WinDump is well-suited for troubleshooting, performance testing, and security investigations, and will feel familiar to anyone who already knows tcpdump.
WinDump is developed by Dieter Geiß, Birkenheide, Germany. The most popular version of this product among our users is 4.4. The name of the program executable file is WinDump.exe.
